Purpose of Job

The Senior Buyer is responsible to ensure that the company has the materials and services it needs to function on a day-to-day basis. He/She will research, evaluate, and buy products to meet the company daily operational needs with main focus on procurement of tooling and steel/raw materials

Principal Accountabilities

  • Develop profitable purchasing strategies
  • Purchase commodities and services to meet specialized or complex needs
  • Make purchase decisions in accordance with company procedures and regulations
  • Analyse purchase requisitions and review for accuracy and completion
  • Collaborate with department managers to clarify purchase requisitions, identify departmental needs, and refine specifications for future purchase orders
  • Investigate and cultivate new sources for supplies and products
  • Assess supplier profiles and analyse offers
  • Prepare and implement effective negotiation tactics
  • Manage relationships with key suppliers to maintain quality of goods, timely delivery and compliance to terms of contracts
  • Schedule deliveries & pick-ups at vendors/suppliers using in house delivery system app
  • Expedite late deliveries & work with vendors/suppliers to improve performance
  • Monitor stock levels
  • Prepare and submit detailed reports (revenues, buying expenditures etc.)
  • Keep updated records
  • Compile data & prepare quarterly subcontractor & vendor report cards per ISO standards
  • Attend events, fairs and exhibitions to keep abreast of the market’s trends
  • Spot audit/control inventory levels & accuracy
  • May be asked to perform other duties as required

Health and Safety Responsibilities

  • All required PPE while in plant
  • Work safe & ergonomically by following JH&S policies
  • Report any unsafe acts, conditions or accidents across the plant
